Pete is a middle child from a large farm family from Barnum, Iowa, who looks forward to challenges. A 1986 Ag Bus Iowa State grad, who could have graduated in three years but took advantage of summer and in-school job opportunities. Pete worked with the Ag Engineering Department on a water quality project, counseled college students at church part time, worked two summers as spot labor for two farm operations around Ames, umpired softball/baseball games while attending summer school, and was part of a concrete crew that built silos for a local co-op.
Following the death of his father, Pete farmed 1987-1992. He “retired” from farming and worked in a variety of capacities over the next 30+ years: co-op salesman and location manager, seed corn/soybeans district sales manager, worked for Climate (before they were Climate), worked for two adjuvant and nutritional fertilizer companies. He also spent three years at AgriSecure. He spent a year working in Ukraine, spent 15 years as a CCA, and holds an Iowa Real Estate License.
In 2020, Pete “un-retired” and now farms a 105-acre organic farm in New Glarus, WI (four hours from his Fort Dodge home). Pete and his wife, Renee of 30+ years, live in Fort Dodge and have four children and eight grandchildren.
Originally from Denver, Colorado, Kenn graduated from Iowa State University with a BS of Agronomy degree. As a Certified Crop Advisor, he is a dedicated agronomist with a proven background in the farming industry. Kenn started his career selling farm inputs and advising on poultry manure to organic and non-organic farms. He then spent three years working with AgriSecure and helping farms transition to organic farming.
Kenn had an opportunity to manage an organic farm from 2018 to 2020, gaining valuable hands-on experience. He is a member of the Agronomy Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America. Kenn serves as a council member on the City Council of Belmond.
An avid sports enthusiast, Kenn enjoys following the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Iowa State Cyclones, and Duke Basketball. Kenn and his wife were married in 2014 and have two daughters and three dogs (and a fish).
